Tournament Droughts

Both Oregon State and Rutgers won tournament games on Friday to end long droughts.  Oregon State won their first tournament game since 1982 and Rutgers won their first since 1983.  Other than Nebraska, who has never won an NCAA Tournament game, those were the two longest droughts for major conference teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Here are the teams that currently have the longest droughts since their last tournament wins:

  1. Nebraska - Never won
  2. Texas Christian vs. Marshall - 1987 Round of 64
  3. St. John's vs. Northern Arizona - 2000 Round of 64
  4. Penn State vs. North Carolina - 2001 Round of 32
  5. Georgia vs. Murray State - 2002 Round of 64
  6. DePaul vs. Dayton - 2004 Round of 64
  7. Boston College vs. Texas Tech - 2007 Round of 64
  8. Mississippi State vs. Oregon - 2008 Round of 64
  9. Washington State vs. Notre Dame - 2008 Round of 32
  10. Wake Forest vs. Texas - 2010 Round of 64
Note that Missouri and Georgia Tech have also not won since 2010 Round of 64, but Wake Forest won the day before, so their drought is technically one day less.
