Round of 64 Tidbits - Friday Afternoon

Ohio State wins in the tournament for the first time since 2019 when they defeated Iowa State 62-59 in the Round of 64.

Ohio State's win is their first against the Missouri Valley.  They were previously 3-0 vs. the MVC. 

Ohio State is 5-0 when playing in Pennsylvania in the tournament.  Only Duke has a better record (8-0) playing in Pennsylvania.

Texas Tech's 35-point win over Montana State (97-32) is their largest margin of victory in 18 tournament wins.  Their previous high was 20 vs. Buffalo in a 78-58 win in the 2019 Round of 32.

With Texas Tech's win over Montana State, the Big Twelve is 5-0 vs. the Big Sky.  The 5-0 record is tied for the best by the Big Twelve vs. any conference in the tournament.  They are also 5-0 vs. the Ohio Valley and America East.

Montana State is now 0-4 in the NCAA Tournament.

Purdue wins a tournament game for the first time since 2019 when they defeated Tennessee 99-94 in the Sweet Sixteen in overtime.

Yales' 56 points is the fewest they have scored in 8 tournament games.  Their previous low was 64 vs. Duke in the 2016 Round of 32.

Villanova is in the Round of 32 for the 8th consecutive tournament.  They are 22-6 in the Round of 64.

Villanova's win over Delaware was their first against the Colonial in the tournament.  They were previously 0-2.

Miami, Florida wins a tournament game for the first time since 2016 when they defeated Wichita State 65-57 in the Round of 32.

With the win, Mike Brey ties Digger Phelps for the most tournament wins in Notre Dame history with 15.

Alabama is tied with Oregon State for a tournament-worst 0-4 vs. teams from the state of Indiana.

Alabama is a tournament-worst 0-3 as a #6 seed and tournament-worst 0-5 vs. #11 seeds.

Texas wins a game in the tournament for the first time since 2014 when they defeated Arizona State 87-85 in the Round of 64.  The win snaps a 5-game tournament losing streak for Texas.

Virginia Tech loses in the Round of 64 for the 4th time in the last 5 tournaments.
