Number One Seeds

Kansas and North Carolina repeat as #1 seeds this year.  It is the first time since 2011 that there has been a repeat #1 seed.  Kansas and Duke repeated as #1 seeds that year.

Villanova is a #1 seed for the 3rd time in school history.  The last time they were a #1 seed was in 2015 when they lost to North Carolina State 71-68 in the second round.  They are 4-2 as a #1 seed.  It is the 7th time in 9 years that the Big East has had a #1 seed.

Kansas is a #1 seed for the 13th time in school history.  The last time they were a #1 seed was in 2016 when they lost to Villanova 64-59 in the Elite Eight.  They won the National Championship as a #1 seed in 2008.  They are 32-11 as a #1 seed.  The only Big Twelve teams other than Kansas to get a #1 seed were Texas and Oklahoma in 2003.

North Carolina is a #1 seed for a record 16th time in school history.  The last time they were a #1 seed was in 2016 when they lost to Villanova 77-74 in the National Championship Game.  The won the National Championship as a #1 seed in 1982, 1993, 2005 and 2009.  They are 55-11 as a #1 seed.  The 55 wins is the most all-time.  This is the 4th consecutive year and the 13th out of the last 14 that the ACC has had a #1 seed.

Gonzaga is a #1 seed for the 2nd time in school history.  The last time they were a #1 seed was in 2013 when they lost to Gonzaga 76-70 in the second round.  They are 1-1 as a #1 seed.  They are the only West Coast team to ever be a #1 seed.
