Sweet Sixteen Tidbits - Friday Edition

North Carolina is in the Sweet Sixteen for the 2nd straight year and the 28th time overall.

North Carolina is 13-5 vs. the Big East.  The 13 wins is the most all-time.

North Carolina is 35-3 on Fridays.  The 35 wins is the most all-time.

North Carolina has won 12 straight Sweet Sixteen games as a #1 seed.  The last time they lost in the Sweet Sixteen as a #1 seed was in 1984 to Indiana 72-68.

Butler is 2-4 in the Sweet Sixteen.

Butler is 2-5 vs. #1 seeds.  This is the second straight year they were defeated by a #1 seed from the ACC.  Last year they lost to Virginia 77-69 in the Round of 32.

North Carolina's 92 points is the most that Butler has allowed in tournament history (38 games).  The previous high was 86 vs. Western Kentucky in the 1962 Regional Third Place Game and again vs. Cincinnati in the 1997 Round of 64.

South Carolina is in the Elite Eight for the first time in school history.  They are the first team in six years to be making their inaugural Elite Eight appearance.  VCU was the last in 2011.

With South Carolina's appearance in the Elite Eight, only 6 teams from the Power 6 conferences (Big East, Big Ten, Big Twelve, ACC, SEC, Pac 12) have not been to the Elite Eight.

Baylor's 50 points is the fewest that South Carolina has allowed in tournament history (16 games).  The previous low was 51 vs. Temple in the 1972 Round of 32.

South Carolina's 20-point win over Baylor is tied for their largest in tournament history.  They also defeated Marquette by 20 in the Round of 64 this year.

Baylor is 2-2 in the Sweet Sixteen.

Baylor is 0-3 vs. the SEC.  The other two losses were to Kentucky (1948 National Championship, 2012 Elite Eight).

Baylor is 0-3 playing in New York.  They are tied with Yale and Columbia for the worst record.

Kentucky is in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2015 and the 37th time overall.  They have been in 6 of the last 8 Elite Eights.

Florida is in the Elite Eight for the first time since 2014 and the 9th time overall.

Florida has been to the Elite Eight in their last 5 tournament appearances and 7 of their last 8.

Florida is 9-2 in the Sweet Sixteen.  They have won 8 straight Sweet Sixteen games.

Florida is 7-0 playing in New York.  The 7-0 record is the best all-time.

Wisconsin is 4-6 in the Sweet Sixteen.  They lose in the Sweet Sixteen for the 2nd straight year.
