Elite Eight Tidbits - Saturday

Loyola of Chicago is in the Final Four for the first time since 1963 and the 2nd time overall.  They are 1-0 in the National Semifinals.  They defeated Duke 94-75 in the 1963 National Semifinals in route to the National Championship.

Loyola of Chicago is 2-0 in the Elite Eight.

This is the first time that Michigan has won the Big Ten Tournament and advanced to the Final Four in the same year.  They are the 6th Big Ten team to win the conference tournament and advance to the Final Four:

  • 2005 Illinois (lost National Championship)
  • 2007 Ohio State (lost National Championship)

Michigan is now 2-0 vs. ACC teams in the Elite Eight.  They also defeated Virginia 102-65 in the 1989 Elite Eight.
