Louisville - Duke Elite Eight Tournament Facts

Here are some NCAA Tournament facts about Louisville and Duke after their Elite Eight game:

Louisville is in the Final Four for the second consecutive year.  It is their 10th Final Four.

Rick Pitino is in his 7th Final Four.  He joins Roy Williams as the only coaches to take two different schools to the Final Four at least 3 times.

Louisville is 10-3 in the Elite Eight.  Rick Pitino is 7-4 in the Elite Eight.

Louisville is 2-0 vs. Duke in the tournament.  They also defeated Duke in the 1986 National Championship game.

Duke is 15-4 in the Elite Eight.  The last time they lost in the Elite Eight was in 1998 to Kentucky 86-84.  They had won their last 4 Elite Eight games.

Duke's 22-point loss is their biggest loss in an Elite Eight game.  Their previous high was 15 to New York in 1960 which was their first Elite Eight appearance.

Louisville is now 2-0 vs. the #1 team in the RPI.  It is the third consecutive year that the team that finished #1 in the RPI lost in the Elite Eight.  The last time that the #1 RPI team advanced to the Final Four was 2007 (Ohio State) and the last time #1 RPI team won the championship was 2001 (Duke).

Louisville joins Connecticut as the only teams to have multiple wins over the #1 RPI team and the only one to do so without a loss.

Louisville is 10-1 when playing in Indiana.

With Duke losing, it is the third consecutive year that an ACC team fails to reach the Final Four.  It is the first time since 1961 that has occurred.
