Midwest Region Tournament Facts

Here are some tournament facts about tonight's Midwest Region Semifinalists:

Louisville is in the Sweet Sixteen for the second consecutive year.  It is their 13th Elite Eight and their 4th in the past 6th years.

Rick Pitino is in his 11th Elite Eight and his 5th with Louisville.  He is 11-0 in the Sweet Sixteen.

Louisville is 13-13 in the Sweet Sixteen, but they have won their last 6.

Oregon loses a Sweet Sixteen game for the first time.  They are now 3-1 in the Sweet Sixteen.

Louisville is 9-2 as a #1 seed.

Louisville is 24-8 when ranked in the Top 5 in the AP poll.

This is the first time that Oregon has ever faced a team ranked in the Top 5 of the AP poll or a #1 seed.

Louisville is 35-5 when ranked vs. an unranked opponent.  Oregon is 1-3 when unranked vs. ranked opponents.

Louisville is 9-1 when playing in the state of Indiana.  Their only loss was their last game before this one vs. Michigan State in the 2009 Elite Eight.

Duke is in the Elite Eight for the first time since 2010. It is their 19th Elite Eight.

Mike Krzyzewski is in his 13th Elite Eight, all with Duke.

Duke is 27-8 as a #2 seed.  The 27 wins is the most ever for a #2 seed.

Duke is 20-3 when ranked #6.  The 20 wins is the most ever for a #6 ranking.

Duke is 22-4 when #1 in RPI.  The 22 wins is the most ever for a #1 RPI and the most wins for any specific RPI in the tournament.

Duke is 8-1 when playing in the state of Indiana.  Their only loss was to Eastern Michigan in the 1996 Round of 64.

Michigan State is 3-10 vs. the ACC.  The 10 losses is tied with Villanova for the most losses vs. the ACC.  Only Kentucky with 11 losses against the Big Ten has lost more vs. a single conference.

Michigan State is now 7-2 when playing in the state of Indiana.
