Pittsburgh - Wichita State Tournament Facts

Here are some NCAA Tournament Facts about Pittsburgh and Wichita State:

Post-Game
Wichita State wins first tournament game since advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 2006.

It is the third time a Missouri Valley team has defeated a Big East team.  The other two games are involved Wichita State or Pittsburgh (mentioned below).  The Missouri Valley is now 3-8 vs. the Big East.

Teams from Kansas are now 8-2 vs. teams from Pennsylvania.

Pittsburgh is now 17-6 as an AP ranked team when facing an unranked opponent.

Jamie Dixon has the most tournament wins in Pittsburgh history with 11.  The second most is Ben Howland with 4.

Pittsburgh is 0-1 vs. the Missouri Valley.  They lost to Bradley 72-66 in the 2006 Round of 32.

Pittsburgh has won in the Round of 64 in their last 6 tournament appearances.  The last time they lost in this round was 2005.

Wichita State is 1-1 vs. the Big East.  They lost to St. John's 57-55 in the 1987 Round of 64 and defeated Seton Hall 86-66 in the 2006 Round of 64.
