San Diego State - Florida Gulf Coast Tournament Facts

Here are some NCAA Tournament facts about San Diego State and Florida Gulf Coast:

Post-Game:
Florida Gulf Coast is the first #15 seed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. 

Florida Gulf Coast is in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in school history.

Florida Gulf Coast is the first school to win their first two tournament games since Florida in 1987.

The Mountain West is the first conference to 4 games to teams seeded 12 or worse in tournament history.  No conference had ever lost more than 2 in the past.

  • UNLV lost to #12 California
When Florida Gulf Coast and Florida play each other in the Sweet Sixteen, it will be the first time two teams from Florida play each other in the tournament.

San Diego State is in the Round of 32 for the 4th time and the first time since 2011.  They are 1-2 in the Round of 32.


San Diego State is 3-2 as a single-digit seed.  They were 0-4 as double-digit seed.

The win over Oklahoma was San Diego State's first ever as an at-large.

This is the first time that San Diego State has ever played a tournament game on a Sunday.

Florida Gulf Coast is in the Round of 32 for the 1st time in school history.

Florida Gulf Coast is currently the only school that is undefeated in tournament history at 1-0.
